I will be traveling  with African-American faith-leaders and medical professionals on a Medical Mission to Rwanda and Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The 1994 genocide in Rwanda resulted in the systematic massacre of 800,000 people in 100 days.  In the Congo, an estimated 6 million have been killed, 2 million women and girls raped and 2.2 million displaced from their homes. This resource-driven conflict is considered the worst humanitarian crisis in the world, and the deadliest since World War II.

For the last four years Rev. Jonathan Weaver,  pastor of Mt. Nebo A.M.E Church/Founder of the Pan African Collective and Dr. Raymond Nelson have led medical  missions to Rwanda and the Congo. Traveling from village to village they set up satellite clinics on church grounds and perform HIV testing ,  Hypertension evaluation and treatment, Diabetic screening, vision screening and provide antibiotics and psychological and spiritual counseling .

In December 2012 I traveled to the Democratic Republic of the Congo on a fact-finding delegation. I vowed to the people of the Congo that I would share their stories and raise awareness about the worst humanitarian crisis in the world . Since returning I launched the “Say Yes! Break the Silence” PSA Campaign, featuring global faith leaders. In October 2014 we launched Congo Sunday; partnering with Friends of the Congo we provided churches with litanies, facts sheets and hosted screenings of “Crisis in the Congo” documentary.   We also partnered with Stolen Outfitters who designed a Limited Edition Custom made Patrice Lumumba T-Shirt to raise funds and awareness around the violence in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
